Department ofPsychiatry celebrated “World Suicide Prevention Day” on 10thSeptember, 2019 as a part of which a sensitizationtalk for MBBS students, an awareness program for public and poster competition among MBBS students was conducted. The ‘Awareness Program’ was presided& inaugurated byPrincipal, Medical Director and Psychiatry Associate professorsDr.Shashidhar.H.L and Dr.Mruthyunjaya.N.Dr.B.S.Prasad (Principal) sir stressed on the mental health in daily life and importance of psychiatry postings for UG students and made students aware of the suicide helpline 104.The function concluded with prize distribution for winners who took part in the Poster Competition which was aptly judged and well appreciated byDr.Latha G S, Professor, Dept of Paediatrics and Dr.Yashwanth G, Associate Professor, Dept of Medicine.On the same occasion, Department of Psychiatry took an initiative to distribute pamphlets/ handouts, which emphasized on signs of depression and prevention of suicide to the public as well as undergraduate students.
