RULES FOR VARIOUS EVENTS

 

MUSIC COMPETITION

 

v     CLASSICAL VOCAL SOLO – HINDUSTANI & CARNATIC

·        Only Two entries Per College is allowed.

·        Maximum number of accompanists is two.

·        Item can be presented in either Hindustani or Carnatic style or .

·        Sufficient thought and care must be exercised in the choice of the raga and composition.

·        Judgment will be based on the Qualities like Swara, Taala, Composition and Geeneral impression.

·        Minimum time of 4 Minutes and maximum of 6 minutes is allotted for the song.

 

v     WESTERN VOCAL SOLO

·        Only Two entries Per College is allowed.

·        Judgment will be made on the Qualities like Composition, Rhythm, Co-ordination, General Impression, etc.,

·        Minimum time of 4 Min., of 6 Min.

 

v     SINGING DUET

·        Round 1 without Karaoke/Music

·        Final round with Karaoke of 2 accompanists

·        Songs of any Indian Language.

·        No classical songs allowed

·        Maximum time allowed 6 Min.

 

v     GROUP SONG

·        Only Two teams per college is allowed

·        The group songs should be taken, either form Indian or Western Style.

·        Film Songs are not allowed

·        Maximum number of participants in a group is Five Maximum no. of accompanists playing instruments shall be Two.

·        Maximum Time allowed is 8 Min and Minimum 6 Min. Which does not include setting time. The setting time for a group shall not exceed 3 Min.

 

v     INSTRUMENTAL

 

CLASSICAL (TAALA  VADYA / PERCUSSION)

·        Participants must bring their own Instruments.

·        Item can be presented in their own Instruments either Hindustani or Carnatic Style.

·        Maximum number of accompanists is Two.

·        Minimum Time of 6 Min, & Maximum 8 Minutes.

 

CLASSICAL (SWARA VADYA / NON PERCUSSION)

·        Judgment will be based on Qualities like Taala, Compositions and General impression.

WESTERN

·        Item should be presented in Western Style only.

DANCE COMPETITION

v     DANCE SOLO (INDIAN)

·        The dance can be from any of the approved classical style such as Bharat natyam, Kathak, kathakali, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Mohiniattam and Odissi etc.,filmsongs are allowed.

·        Each participant will be given a minimum time of 3 minutes and maximum Time of  5 Minutes.

·        Maximum 3 accompanists or Recorded Tracks are permissible.

·        Judgment will be based basically on Qualities like Taala, Technique, Rhythm, Abhinaya (Expression), costume, footworks & general impression etc.,

 

v     WESTERN SOLO

·        Each participant will be given a minimum time of 3 Minutes & Maximum time of 5 Minutes. Including the time of Preparation.

·        Film songs are allowed

·        Judgment will be based basically on Qualities like Technique, Rhythm, Costume, Footworks & General impression etc.

 

v     GROUP INDIAN DANCE (Indian)

·        Maximum no. of participants allowed per team is 10. The minimum no. of participants should not be less than 6. The team may consist of all boys, all girls or both.

·        The dance can be either tribal or folk (Indian style) but not a classical one.

·        Duration of the dance should not exceed more than 8 Minutes.

·        The participating team will be responsible for removal of their sets, Propertied etc., immediately after the competition of their dance.

·        Live music is preferred.

·        Judgment will be based on the basis of rhythm, formation, expression, costume, make upsets, and Overall effects.

 

v     GROUP WESTERN DANCE

·        Maximum no. of participants allowed per team is 10. The minimum no. of participants should not be less than 6.

·        Duration of the dance should not exceed more than 8 Min.

·        Recorded music is preferred.

 

v     MIME

·        Only 2 teams per college is allowed.

·        Number of participants must be 8+/- 2.

·        Judgment will most likely be based on the Qualities of the play like theme, work on acting, stage craft, design & general impression etc.,

·        Maximum time is 6 Minutes.

·        Recorded Music is preferred. No dialogues or props  will be permitted.

 

v     MAD ADS

·        Only 2 team per college is allowed.

·        Maximum no. of participants allowed is 8+/-2 per team.

·        Maximum time allotted for each team is 10 min – 12 min.

·        The language of expression if any should be either English, Hindi or Kannada.

·        Props are not allowed.

·        Vulgarity not allowed.

 

LITERARY EVENTS

 

1)      Air crash

Rules: 2 participants per college.

The personality that you will be representing will be given on the spot.

5 minutes time to prepare.

Props and costumes is allowed

 

2)      Photography

Rules: any number of participants per college.

Only one picture per entry.

The theme will be given on the spot.

 

3)      Quiz (general knowledge)

Rules 2 teams per college

2 rounds

Written prelims

 

4)      JAM

Rules: 2 participants per college.

The topic will be given on the spot the participant is to speak about the topic for one minute.

No preparation time.

 

5)      Story weaving

Rules: team event with 3 participants per team.

2 teams per college

Each team will be given the first line of a story based in which the team should weave an entire story 6 minutes (2 minutes per person)

 

6)      Mock press

Rules: 2 participants per college

Each participant needs to portray a personality and present himself/herself in front of the press and answer their questions. The personality you will be representing will be given on the spot. You will be given 5 minutes to prepare.

Props and costumes are allowed.  

7)      Dumb charades
