Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

 

 

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology is headed by a senior Obstetrician and having a dedicated experienced sincere & capable group of professionals as faculty members. 

The labour room complex of this department is very spacious & having facilities of both septic as well as clean labour rooms. A fully functional Obst operation theatre and an NICU is co-located. 

USG machine is located in labour room complex and is dedicated only to Obst & Gyn cases. 

The OPD complex is also very spacious & well planned. Apart from routine OPD         conduction, various special clinics, such as cancer detection clinic, well women clinic, high risk pregnancy clinic, post natal clinic, family welfare clinic, infertility clinic, PPTCT clinic etc are conducted on specified days. 

One fully equipped minor operation theatre is also located in OPD block having Colposcope, Cryocautery & thermocautery facilities.           

In the academic wing apart from a well stocked departmental library and a well developed museum, a student demonstration room with all audiovisual teaching aids & auxiliary support facilities are also available. It can house about 35 students.

OBG Department has the following additional facilities.

a.  A fully functional Assisted Reproductive Technology department.

b. A fully developed Endoscopy wing having facilities of Laparoscopic surgeries, office hysteroscopy, operative hysteroscopy, Endometrium ablation facilities etc. 

At present 2 Professors, and 8 Assistant professors are working in the department of OBG, with 3 units working on rotation. About 300 to 350minor operation procedures like Pap smear, D & C, Cu. T insertion, Cervix Biopsy, MTP, Cryo cautery of cervix, Colposcopy, Hysterosalpingogram take place in outpatient department every month.  

About 130 to 150 major surgeries like abdominal, Vaginal, Hysterectomy, Laparotomy, Non-descent Vaginal Hysterectomy operations, diagnostic and operative Laparoscopy procedures will be done every month. 

In Labour room about 100 to 130 deliveries take place, out of which 20 -30are caesarian deliveries. 

We are happy to inform that, diagnostic and operative laparoscopic surgeries are being done for infertility cases. 

Laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) procedure is also done. All emergency critical care obstetrics cases are managed in the department of OBG, with the help of well equipped, well maintained intensive care unit, where we have Obstetrics ICU facilities also.  

We are very glad and proud to announce that the department of OBG has been working sucessfully with well functioning labour room complex, emergency obstetric care high risk pregnancy and infertility treatment facilities.  

In a nutshell, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology, which is presently a cohesive, compact & competent department will grow from strength to strength into a fully developed modern, state of the art, consortium in near future.
