Departmental Academic Activities for 2009 Obstetrics and Gynecology § Mega camp was conducted at Kathlagere, Chennagiri Tq organized by Taluk Health authority, Rotary club and inner wheel club, Vidyanagar Davangere and S.S.I.M.S.& R.C.,. Following doctors attended the camp and 250 women with Obstetrics and Gynecology problems were examined. Dr. Prema Prabhudev, Dr. Sudha. T.R., Dr. Savitha. K.B., Dr. Virupakshi Ajjammanavar and Housesurgeons. § All the staff members of OBG department attended CME programme and workshop on ‘Vaginal Hysterectomy’ New appraisal, organized by department of OBG, J. J. M. M. C. and OBG society, Davangere branch on 10/02/2009. § Integrated teaching programme for undergraduate students started from 26th Feb 2009 in department of OBG. The topics presented and discussed during integrated teaching were as follows. · Diagnosis of pregnancy · Physiology of menses and applied aspects · Anatomy of female reproductive system and clinical aspects · Contraception ( Birth Control) · Medical termination of pregnancy § Staff members of OBG department attended short CME on Obesity and PCOS by Dr. Tayade from Mumbai, organized by OBG society Davangere branch at hotel Pooja international on 20th Mar 2009. § Staff members of OBG Department attended subject seminars case presentation and journal club during PG teaching programme held at Department of OBG, J. J. M. M.C. Davangere. § Staff members of OBG dept. attended Guest Lecture on IUGR – by Dr. Nandini and Dr. Poornima – Consultau , Bangalore organized by OBG Society – Davangere branchs on 15/05/2009. § All the Staff members attended guest lectures arranged by OBG Society Fogsi –Davangere- branch – Ø On 22nd June 2009 :-

§ Staff Members of Dept. of OBG attended subject seminars, case presentations by Post Graduates students in dept. of OBG JJMMC. § Staff Members of dept .of OBG attended guest lecture on ‘VVF’ a video demonstration on 4th July 2009. § Faculty from dept. of OBG attended and actively participated in CME and workshop on “Advanced Endoscopic surgery” organized by dept. of OBG And OBG Society Davangere branche – at Library lecture Hall Bapuji Hospital on 8th August 2009. § Attended Workshop on “Liffe skills in Adolescents” “Motivational interviewing of Adolescents and tips for adolesecent clinic” on 18th Sep. 2009, and presented a paper on assessment of accep[tability of comprehensive reproductive health care among adolescent girls in adolescent clinics. § Dr. Prema Prabhudev Professor & HOD attended 2days ICOG CME held at VIMS Medical College Bellary as an invited faculty on 24th & 25th Nove. 2009 and delivered a lecture on “Management of unexplained Intrauterine Fetal Death.” § Faculty from dept. of OBG oraganised and conducted one day CME on Preventive Gynaec Oncology and Colposocopy workshop on 5th Dece. 2009. Professor & HOD Dr. Prema Prabhudev was organizing Chairperson, Professor Dr. Sudha. T.R. was Organising Secretary, Dr. Gayathri.L.Patil Associate Professor and Dr. Savitha. K.B – Assistant Professor, Dr. Rashmi Hegade – Assistant Professor, Dr. Geetha. H.H. – Assistant Professor and Dr. Kalyani- Lecturer were coordinators for scientific Programme and workshop. Theme of the scientific Programme was “Preventive Gynaec Oncology” Guest Speaker Dr. Uma Devi, Gyneac Oncosurgeon from Kidwai Institute of Oncology, Bangalore spoke on “Rationale of Colposcopy in early detection of Cancer Cervix” and conducted Colposcopy workshop with live demonstration of Colposcopic examination findings, both normal and abnormal, which was performed on 15 patients admitted to SSIMS & RC., hospital. On one Patient who was diagnosed to hae CIN-I “Leetz” operation was performed. Interactive session between guest speaker and delegate participants was held quiz programme was held for postgraduate students. Dr. Dakshyani. B.R. Studies, dept. of ‘OBG, JJMMC chaired the session, faculty and Postgraduate students from dept. of OBG, JJMMS, OBG Society members, Consultants , Obstetricians & Gyneacologists from Davangere, outside Davangere attended the CME Programme and Colposocpy workshop. FROM JANUARY TO MARCH 2010
1) Dr. Prema Prabhudev, Professor & HOD, Dr. Sudha. T.R. Professor, Dr. Savitha. K..B. Associate Professor attended and particiapated in CTG workshop and CME on prenatal diagnosis and eclampsia organized by dept of OBG JJMMC & OBG Society, Davangere Chapter at Bapuji Hospital on 31st January 2010. 2) All the faculty of dept. of OBG attended Microteaching methods and activities conducted by Medical education dept. on 29th January 2010. 3) Dr. Gayatri. L. Patil attended the Silver Jubliee “ACOG”conference at Kolkata, February 25th to 27th 2010, presented a paper on “Cross sectional survey of burden of illness in terminally ill cancer patients” and a poster on “cutaneous metastasis of cervcal cnacer”, attended colposcopy, obstetric skills, Urogynaecology and ultrasound imaging workshops at the conference. 4) Davangere OBG Society in association with dept. of OBG SSIMS & RC., and JJMMC, Davangere organized a CME/ Symposiom on safe motherhood intiative. Dr. Sudha. T.R. was the Organizing Secretary and Chairperson of scientific sessions of CME.. Dr. Prema Prabhudev participated in the Pannel discussion of safe use of antihypertensives in pregnancy. All the faculty members of dept. of OBG participated in the CME on 13th March 2010. 5) All the faculty members attended the guest lecture on “ Thyroid Disorders in Pregnancy” by Dr. Arpandev Bhatcharya (Manipal), Endocrinologist on 19th March 2010 Friday between 3 to 4.30pm organized by Fogsi, DVG OBG Society. 6) Dr. Prema Prabhudev Professor & HOD, was one of the speakers in ICTC – HIV orientation and sensitization programme held at SSIMS hospital auditorium on 23rd March 2010. Dr. Prema Prabhudev spoke on “Prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV infection and management of HIV affected women during pregnancy labour and postnatal period. Participants were Health workers, Lab Technicians, Junior doctors, Nurses, Supervising staffs and Group- D workers. 7) Dr. Prema Prabhudev was one of the moderators for one session during CME/ Lab wet workshop on bleeding disorders held at library auditorium JJMMC, Davangere on 25th March 2010 organised by dept. of Pathology, JJM Medical college Davangere. Dr. Prema Prabhudev chaired the session and was one of the moderators. Topic was management of abnormal bleeding tendency including basic nursing care.
