Neonatology from S.S.I.M.S &R.C, J.J.M.M.C, B.C.H.I & R.C, IAP Davangere
dist branch & NNF Karnataka state chapter has conducted CME in Neonatology
followed by 12th NNF Quiz in Neonatology on Saturday 1st
AUG 2009 at S.S Hospital auditorium. The theme of the CME was RECENT
ADVANCES and HOT TOPICS IN NEONATOLOGY. Distinguished speakers and
experienced Neonatologists from different Superspeciality Hospitals
across the state shared their knowledge and experience on topics like
Congenital anolmalies in the newborn, Neonatal resuscitation newer
guidelines, neonatal seizure, Prematurity & VLBW babies - their
complications and management and also about the World Breastfeeding week
theme. Aim of this programme was to enrich the knowledge of neonatology
among the participants and delegates, and to help the community at large
and also in propagating the knowledge to the students of Medicine. CME
programme started with inauguration by lighting the lamp by dignitaries on
the dias. Welcome speech was given by Dr.B.S Prasad Director of
neonatology, S.S.I.M.S &R.C and organizing secretary. Presidential address
was given by
Dr.Kanteerava Balasaraswathi,
Dean, S.S.I.M.S&R.C, Dr.P.Nagaraj, Principal S.S.I.M.S&R.C was the chief
guest. Vote of thanks was given by Dr N.K Kalappanavar. The other
chairpersons involved in the programme were Dr.Nirmala Kesaree,
Dr.M.LKulkarni, Dr.G.Guruprasad and Dr.Koujalgi. Dr.G.Guruprasad
Consultant neonatologist and Dr.A.Ashok Consultant Pediatrician, Jt
Secretary, conducted the NNF quiz programme for postgraduates.
We nearly had 175
registration, including PGS from various Medical Colleges, private
practitioners from various places across the state. The event was very
interactive with faculties, delegates & students. On this occasion Dept of
Pediatrics, felicitated Dr.B.S Prasad, Director of Neonatology & Professor
of Pediatrics for getting Fellow award FRCPCH from Royal College of
Pediatrics & Child Health, Yorkshire, UK. In the quiz event postgraduates
from J.J.M.M.C, Davanagere, secured 1st place in divisional
round and made their place in zonal round to be held in Chennai in
Sep.2009 and PGS from S.S.I.M..S&R.C were runner up and they closely
missed the top place. At the end of the CME programme quiz winners, poster
presenters and volunteers were given participation certificates. All the
faculties & delegates were overwhelmed by our hospitality.
