CME 2009
Department of Anesthesiology and critical care at SSIMS&RC started in the year 2004. From the time of inception it has grown into a fully fledged department with 1 professor, 3 Asso. Professors, 6 asst. Professors, and many senior residents.
There are 14 state of the art, fully equipped operating rooms, the operating rooms have been adequately supported by 10 bedded pre-anesthetic holding room, a pre-anesthetic clinic, and 12 bedded post-operative care unit with adequate facilities for oxygen, suction and monitors. The department caters to the following specialties - General Surgery, OBGyn, ENT, Orthopedics, Pediatric surgery, Plastic surgery, Surgical Oncology, Oromaxillofacial surgery, Neurosurgery, Urology and Cardiothoracic surgery. We also cater to the departments like Ophthalmology, CT room, radiology and cath rooms.
We provide comprehensive anesthesia care to the patient. The department excels not only in specialized field of anesthesiology but also in field of critical care medicine and pain management.
Apart from performing conventional general anesthesia, spinal, epidural and nerve blocks with nerve locators, we also perform pediatric regional anesthesia, specialized procedures like fibre-optic intubations.
The teaching faculty of the department conducts seminars, journal clubs, case discussion and morbidity meetings, and lectures regularly. The department conducted state level CME and WORKSHOPS in the year 2008 and 2009 and plan to keep it as an ongoing project to keep abreast with with the changing trends and updates in the field of anesthesiology and critical care
Our department aims to train the undergraduates in the basics of anesthesia care and emergency life, produce a competent anesthesiologist capable of carrying out anesthesia procedures in all fields of surgery and managing critically ill patients and carry out pain management.
We also impart hands on training of all the students, nurses, medical staff including preclinical, clinical, and para-clinical members in the BLS (basic life support) .
CRITICAL CARE UNIT
The Critical care unit which is under the care of the anesthesiologist is equipped with 14 Macquet servo i ventilator, and each bed is equipped with adequate monitoring facility along with supply of , oxygen. air, vacuum. Our unit is a very busy unit which caters to as tertiary care to the whole of our district and neighboring district as well . the department also manages patients on ventilator in neurosurgical ICU, MICU, ICCU, & SICU.
LIBRARY
The department is supported with a very good library with more than 500 books and various national and international journal.
